Towards the Implementation of the NENA Region Plant Genetic Recourses Strategy

OAPGRC in collaboration with the Near East and North Africa Plant Gentic Resources Network of AARINENA hosted a workshop to discuss the NENAPGRN Strategy implementation. The strategy was adopted in Cairo during the second board meeting of the network in September 2012.

The objectives of the meeting were as follows:

To propose mechanisms for the network funding
To propose mechanisms for the network visibility and promotion
To learn on how to establish strong national PGR programs in the member countries
To establish a regional platform (portal) for networking and coordinating
To establish a regional PGR Information Management System – Guarino initiative, and
To discuss country experiences on establishing national PGR legislation
