ESO’s Summer Eco
Organized by the Environment Society of Oman, the event was held in PDO on 18 July 2016. Helping children understand that STEM is more than a set of required school courses, the ESO Program showed real-life applications of classroom ideas and demonstrated the benefits of STEM to local communities and the world at large.
Aiming to encourage the youngsters on the Eco program to become adult environmentalists, the OAPGRC Team ran a series of fun experiments on microorganisms. These which helped children understand the importance of these tiny creatures on their own everyday lives as well as the use of microorganisms in fields like mining, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage manufacturing, farming and the environment.
