Workshop on Sugarcane Crop Cultivation, Production and Processing

The sugar cane crop is the main crop in the red sugar industry in the Sultanate. The province of the interior and some of the other governorates of the Sultanate, such as North Al-Sharqiya and North Batinah, are cultivated and produced in recent years as agricultural crops in Dhofar Governorate. Objectives of the workshop:

  • . Identify farmers in sugar cane cultivation and production methods
  • . Identification of sugar cane breeds
  • . To learn about the modern methods of post-harvest operations for sugarcane crop, such as extracting juice, processing and   ​packing of red sugar
  • . The discussion between specialists in agricultural research and extension, the Center for Plant and Animal Genetic Resources, crop growers and owners of manufacturing units (contemporary) in the development of crop cultivation and production of red sugar
